ROOTS OF REGGAE

Reggae music sprung from the heart in Jamaica in the late 1960’s. Its foundation lie deeply in the sounds with traditional island genres such as ska and rocksteady. These earlier forms supplied reggae its infectious rhythm, while blending elements with American soul and Mento. Reggae became more than just a musical form; it grew a powerful chann
